I’m Anne-Julie Aubry, a French illustrator and artist living in the south of France.
I graduated from the Beaux-Arts in 2001, and although my path has taken many different turns since then, drawing and creating imaginary worlds has always remained at the heart of what I do.
I have always been fascinated by fairytales, nature, magical creatures and the small, quiet details that can make an ordinary moment feel special. These inspirations naturally found their way into my illustrations, where I love creating gentle, whimsical worlds filled with curious characters, cozy places and a little touch of magic. I work digitally using Photoshop and a graphic tablet from my home studio.
Over the years, my work has evolved alongside me. Between 2005 and 2015, I had the opportunity to take part in numerous exhibitions in the USA, sharing my illustrations with an international audience and meeting collectors who connected with my little worlds.
I have also explored many different creative paths throughout the years, from illustration projects and handmade creations to developing my own personal artwork. Today, I mainly focus on creating illustrations for my own portfolio, collectors, licensing and creative collaborations. I also enjoy finding ways to make my illustrations part of everyday life. My artwork is available online through my Etsy shop, where I offer prints, bookmarks, postcards and a selection of other illustrated items. If you are a diamond painter, you may also want to purchase my kits at Diamond Art Club !
I’m naturally a calm and rather solitary person, and I have always felt most comfortable in my own little creative world. Spending time in my studio, drawing and bringing new ideas to life, gives me a sense of peace and quiet that I deeply value in my everyday life. For me, creating is not only a way of expressing myself, it is also a place where I can slow down, breathe and simply be (:
I enjoy working slowly and intuitively, taking the time to build each little world and fill it with details. Sometimes an illustration begins with a character, sometimes with a season, a colour or simply a feeling I want to capture. I never quite know where an idea will take me, and that is one of the things I love most about creating.
My hope is that my illustrations can offer a small moment of escape… somewhere to pause, dream and perhaps remember that there is still a little magic to be found in everyday life (:
Thank you for stopping by and taking a little time to discover my work. ♡
